Evan is a lover of life and everything it brings his way!  He is a sweet, funny, agile, and athletic preteen who is willing to give you 110% all the time.  His moderate drive and matching energy level will keep you from hibernating as the months get cooler!

Evan loves his human and his foster sibling dog too! In fact, he would love to have a playful dog or two in his forever home.  Want to know some cool Evan facts?  Well, this model of Evan is the best on the market!  He comes with crate and potty training completed, sleeps like a rock through the night, plays well with others, is non-destructive, has no food aggression, has a big boy bark (never uses it though), and has an amazing off switch installed for those times when you want him to chill out.  Sounds about perfect right?  Well, there are a couple of fine-tuning things he needs assistance and advocating on such as he is not a fan of being cornered and does not like strangers near him before he accepts them into his life.  #IFeelTheSameWayPal

If Evan was a human, he would be a professional basketball player as this dude has some serious hops on him!  Or he might be a rock climber since there are not too many things he can’t figure out how to get up on out there in the world. During a recent trip to the lake he made some new dog friends and loved playing in the water with them. Larger dogs who are reactive/aggressive make him nervous. During his time at the lake, he saw some deer one morning in the field and pulled on his leash a little but didn’t seem to want to chase them too badly, and the turkeys he came across he seemed to care less about.  Even his foster Malinois buddy keeps the squirrels out of the yard, but Evan hasn’t shown interest in that either.

Evan likes car rides; he will curl up and nap most of the time or lie down next to the window. He was a little jumpy at the vet’s office since everyone was in his personal space bubble, so he got the “party hat” aka soft muzzle, but he did allow the doctor examine him.  He does alright with loud noises as long as he knows where they came from. Sometimes he doesn’t want to be on his leash but a little coaxing with some treats does the trick.  This guy loves to snap the air with his mouth, he does it when he wants something, hungry, happy, pretty much all the time.  Also, he is the perfect couch partner so don’t worry about buying more throw pillows just get an Evan to take up that space. He has mastered the Sit, Down, Off, Up, OK (release), and Drop it commands.  He is diligently working on Come, Heel, Off-leash manners, Stay, Sitting at stops during walks, and introductions to strangers.

Evan would like a forever home that is quiet, predictable, and moderately active.  A home without children is best or maybe older kids that are dog savvy and respectful of his space and can help him overcome some of his fears. Evan will need further training and clear boundaries and structure to help him build confidence to be the best version of himself. He will need a dedicated handler who is in tune with his body language and can advocate for him in all situations.
