The Woof Project was founded in 2008 and officially became a verified nonprofit in 2014. What began as a small, grassroots effort has grown into a powerful, foster-based, all-volunteer rescue, though we still proudly operate with the heart and grit of a small team. Over the years, we’ve expanded exponentially, recently revitalizing our leadership team and extending our reach across the US and Canada.

We specialize in working with Belgian Malinois and Dutch Shepherds; two incredible, intelligent, and often misunderstood breeds, but our commitment goes beyond breed. If an animal is in need and we have a safe place for them, we step in. That’s who we are.

We are deeply committed to promoting responsible pet ownership and raising awareness about the overwhelming number of abandoned and mistreated dogs. Through education, outreach, and hands-on rescue work, we strive to build a community that prioritizes animal welfare and supports second chances.

As a 100% volunteer-run organization, we rely entirely on the generosity and dedication of our supporters. We are always in need of monetary donations to fund medical care and daily needs, foster homes to provide safe and loving environments, transporters to help move dogs to safety, and passionate volunteers to join our internal team.​
