This dog is a mover and a shaker. She is confident, forward, and is ready to go at all times! Sanna wants to get things done and would be an amazing partner for someone who is as athletic and outdoorsy as she is. If she were human, she would be a highly motivated business executive who moonlights as a professional athlete.
Sanna is bold and fearless, but because she is so smart, she also is cautious. She will excitedly jump for joy and get bouncy in anticipation of a new adventure. While out hiking, she likes to stay close to her person and is non-reactive, but rarely interested in people along the trails. She prefers new people to ignore her, and she will interact when ready, usually after seeing them a few times. Sanna needs a skilled, confident handler to ensure she has the structure and training needed for continued success.
She needs slow controlled introductions to other dogs, but she plays hard and will sometimes bully or take advantage of smaller or more timid dogs. Sanna has high prey drive so a home without cats or small animals is required. She has tried to chase the livestock in her foster home but will respond when told to leave it. She is potty trained, crate trained, rides well crated in the care, and is well-mannered at the vet’s office.
Sanna is motivated by food and praise and requires firm correction. She is working on mastering her house manners to stay off counters and not bouncing off her person when excited. As long as she has ample physical and mental stimulation every day, she is much more receptive and responsive to training and has an excellent off-switch. A prong collar has been instrumental in helping to teach her to not pull on a leash.
Her ideal home is with an active person – someone who is an avid runner, mountain biker, or hiker. She would be fine with teenage kids who are dog-savvy. Sanna's new person needs to be committed to teaching obedience and always sticking to boundaries and structure. She may do well with a male dog of similar or larger size who can match her playstyle. She loves to use her nose so may enjoy tracking, shed hunting, or other scent detection sports outside. Sanna is all the great things in one pup – a bit intense when needed, good sense of humor, and a good sense of FUN! Sanna truly wants one person to bond strongly to and share her world with – is that you?
