Miss Olive is not your typical Malinois, matter of fact she isn’t a Malinois at all!  She comes from a long lineage of Couch Potatoes, House Hippos, and Pibbles.  That is right Olive happens to be a little Pittie gal that landed in a Malinois rescue to help her find her forever home.  She loves human contact and affection; she will be your shadow regardless of what you are doing 24/7.

If Olive was a human, she would be a part-time explorer on the side as she loves to be out and about checking out new things and places.  One of her favorite things to do is ride in the car, you can tell that her heart is content as she sits staring out the window watching the world zing by.  She can take a little while to warm up with new people, so slow introductions are best as she prefers calm and mellow over fast and loud movements and people.  Once you are in her “circle of trust” she is as loyal as they come.  #FisForFamily

After years of being a shelter dog Olive loves taking walks, sniffing everything, and being an affection sponge!  Olive shows her people the sweetest and purest love there is, she is content just chilling out sleeping or just being close enough to touch her human is enough for her.  She is a quiet dog that does not bark or cause too much commotion around the house.  However, she does have a sassy side and will let you know if she wants a treat when she is hungry or has completed something she thinks is treat-worthy. #MeTooOlive During training time she does very well as she is very food motivated and does best with gentle correction.  If someone uses a harsh tone with her she just shuts down.  Olive could initially benefit from “sterile” training locations as she can sometimes get distracted and space out which hinders the training session.

During her time in foster, she has made great strides in the socialization arena and is warming up to strangers much quicker than when she first came into foster. Olive is thriving with her human socialization and has learned that not all humans are bad and loves being around most humans!  This lady adores kids (ages 10 and up, foster does not have little kids).  She has had many adventures to Home Depot, and neighborhood walks without being too shy.  As much as she LOVES car rides is as much as she is not a fan of the vet’s office. She is usually under a chair trying to escape. #YouAintFinnaTakeHerTempThatWay  Over time she has learned that all loud noises are not bad and living out in the country has desensitized her to some of the noises that rural neighbors make.  Crate training has been an adventure as she can be vocal about not wanting to be in her crate, so that is a work in progress. Due to her high prey drive, a home free of cats, small dogs, and pocket pets is required.

Olive is looking for her forever home that would allow her to shine as the only dog and be the star of the show as she desires. Olive will need a home that is predictable, has few visitors, and low chaos. Older kids may be fine. So, if you are looking for a middle-aged lady who just wants to go on car rides and chill around the house, apply to be Miss Olive’s forever human!
