ABOUT MILO

Age: 2.5 years

Weight: 44lbs

Energy level: Moderate

Overall drive: Moderate

Location: Snohomish, WA

Milo is a sweet, playful, and sensitive boy who is looking for his very own person to share his world. He is very people oriented and once you are his person, he will always choose you over anything else going on. When you return home from being away, his adorable bouncing around and play bowing as he sniffs/sneezes at you will have you cracking up!

New people and places make Milo feel unsure and fearful making him want to get away from whatever is he is afraid of. He mostly will ignore people but will elicit a light growl if a new person approaches quickly or stares him down. His moderately high prey drive is easily managed when out on adventures, but a home free of children and small animals is required. He has not had any exposure to livestock. Milo is potty trained, rides well in the car, and skittish, but recovers quickly from loud noises. He is crate trained but occasionally will demand bark if he’s not told the behavior is unacceptable. His e-collar works well to remind him what is appropriate. Due to his fear of new people, he is muzzled when he is at the vet or when in busy areas and does fine.

Milo has mastered basic and some intermediate skills and is working on becoming proficient in more advanced tasks. He is motivated by food and praise and is responsive to verbal cues sometimes paired with an e-collar. When out of the home, a prong collar helps keep him focused when faced with uncertainty. Overall, Milo is well behaved in the home, is non-destructive, and has not had a chance to get anything out of the trash or off the counter. While Milo has been living with 2 other dogs, he tends to play rough so slow, controlled introductions in a very controlled environment with constant supervision is required.

Milo’s perfect home will be calm, quiet, and predictable with few visitors, and be willing to manage him properly if people come over. He has impressive endurance so would make an amazing jogging or hiking partner and has been learning to run along a bike with his foster. This cuddly, affectionate boy can also share your lazy days and has no problem being a couch potato between some flirt pole play sessions in the yard! Milo is lightning fast, jumps far and high so may enjoy lure coursing or dock diving. Ultimately, he just wants to be your shadow, but need you to step aside and help him find the confidence to shine on his own with you by his side to celebrate his success.
