Who is sweet so much it will give you a toothache? Lottie, that’s who! She is super calm, takes treats gently, and will just chill in her crate if her person is nearby. This girl is easygoing and just wants to please, she is so easy that she will take a pill without having to hide it in cheese. #UnicornNotDog If Lottie had a human job her foster says that she would be easily employed as a caregiver. Since she just wants to make everyone happy and cheer them up.
Lottie is not a fan of loud noises though, her foster noted that startling noises rattle her pretty well so that will be something to keep an eye on and work on some desensitization training with. When she first arrived at her foster home she was a little timid with a couple of visitors but with time and patience she has made some great strides. For socialization, she gets along well with her fosters other Belgian breeds and does not seem interested in the cats around the property either. Lottie rides well while crated in the car for transportation and is well-mannered at the vets’ office. Again she does not like loud noises but she will take a treat soon after so that is a plus.
Things that motivate Lottie are treats and praise (petting), she has been introduced to a prong collar and reacts to it very quickly. She has not been able to free-roam the house during her time in foster, is working on staying quiet in the crate when her person is away and will need clear boundaries and structure to continue to blossom. We believe she has some separation anxiety but it is not extreme. A wire crate should suffice but with a very spartan interior as she has a history of dispatching items left inside her crate like blankets or dog beds. With time, patience, and dedication her confidence and security should increase and worry about being alone decrease. Since arriving in foster care Lottie has been working on Sit, Stand, and come. She walks decently on a leash but has not been out in busy public areas yet.
Lottie is looking for a forever home and is calm, peaceful, and dog savvy. A home with dedication, few visitors, possibly older kids, and an older neutral dog to help her figure things out. If you are up for taking on Lottie and giving her the guidance and path for being an amazing lady who had a rough start to life, please apply.
