Remember in Peter Pan where his shadow had a personality of its own, but was always around?  Well, that is Vail but just in dog form, he is his person’s shadow that just wants to follow you around everywhere you go.  To say that Vail is a Velcro dog would be a disservice to Velcro!

If Vail were a human and were persuaded to be a productive member of society, his dream job would be the greeter at Walmart.  If you need help finding things, Vail can help.  Want some assistance packing your groceries to your car? Vail can assist with that as well.  He will even help you pack your bags, as long as he gets to put the bread and eggs on the bottom, he said they are the safest there.  #VailShouldNotPackGroceryBags  Vail is very much an “everything” dog, he is very affectionate and will sleep right next to you if you let him up into the bed.  During his outings, he has yet to meet another dog that he didn’t like.  One of his favorite things to do at his foster home is play with his foster sibling dogs, as a reminder he is a teenager and can be mouthy but is never aggressive or overbearing with his mouth.

He does love car rides, but if they are too long, he usually gets bored and naps.  If it is a short one, he uses his superior knowledge of automobiles and their operation to judge you on your driving.  #HelloOfficerMyDadWontGetMeAPuppachino  This fella has zero fear of objects, he will stand next to the vacuum cleaner while it is on and just stare at it.  Also, his foster dad takes him to his truck shop, so he has been around all sorts of loud equipment, and it does not bother Vail at all.  Since he arrived in foster care, he has never shown any signs of being destructive. However, he will check out what you have up on your counter in the kitchen if no one is looking and has been known to rummage through the trash if something smells tasty.

He is working diligently to master his basic skills with treats and praise during training sessions as motivators.  He is crate-trained and housebroken, but most everything else is a work in progress. Given his age and unknown background it’s quite common and he will continue to blossom with clear boundaries and consistent structure.  His new family must be dedicated to setting him up for success by providing plenty of opportunities for training.

Vail is looking for his forever home and he is open to the possibility of being an only dog (he loves his human), or in a multidog home (he loves playing).  We think that he could make an awesome active family dog with dog-savvy kids who understand he is still in the late puppy stages.  It took Vail a while to warm up to his foster, so it is imperative that his adopter remembers the 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 month rule of dog adoption with Vail.  So, if you are looking for an awesome young man who just wants to love you, look no further than Vail.

Our adoption process includes- completion of an application, followed by a telephone interview.

Adoption Donation: $500.00

Transport along Interstate 5 (Rowland Heights, CA to Edmonds, WA) is available but cost not included in adoption fee.

For all inquiries, please fill out our adoption application first, as the volunteer answering emails is probably not the coordinator for the specific foster home/dog.
