Forrest has been with his foster for most of his adolescent life and would love to find his forever home with humans who love him as much as his foster family does!  He is what some people would call an “underdog”, but, to us he is perfect.  His past is a mystery #JamesBondish, but this boy is nothing shy of amazing in a small package.  He loves his humans and is thankful for keeping him warm, fed, and safe.  This boy deserves nothing less than the entire world!

If Forrest was a human, he would be a gatekeeper, but not just any gate he would be guarding something special like a gold horde or something from an Indiana Jones movie.  He will make sure everything and everyone that he holds near and dear are safe 24/7.  He will wait for you to get home every day and then will patrol the yard to ensure his compound is secure #HipptyHoppityStayOffHisProperty.  Forrest can be cautious and shy around strangers but quickly turns into his normal bouncy self.  This boy might just be part Kangaroo or Wallaby (due to size), the way he hops around. His hops and unique walking/running gait may partially be due to a prior injury before he came to Woof, but it does not slow him down one bit. He has three foster siblings which he gets along with well and feeds his monkey see-monkey do-ness.  If they bark, he barks, if they are calm, he is calm.

Forrest does come with a user manual and some ground rules.  Number one, he is not a fan of being grabbed quickly by the collar, especially on his blind side.  He is missing his left eye from a prior trauma before his time in foster, so any motion or action along his left side he is very apprehensive of, and he uses his nose and ears to compensate for his visual impairment.  Number two, his hind legs often move in unison when he runs so he will need continued strengthening. He runs at top speed but can’t stop or turn quickly during a full-out run.  If he tries it leads to him doing the ol’ “tuck and roll” before popping back up and going the other direction at 100 mph #StraightlineSpeedNotBuiltForCorners. His favorite play items are his ball and playing tug and engaging with his person.  If he had to tell you what his over-the-moon favorite thing in the whole world is, it would be his blue kiddie pool.  This guy loves playing in the water!

During his time in foster, he has mastered many skills and is still working diligently on Drop it, Enough, and Out.  He is crate trained and does need to be crated when not supervised. When crated he will let you know he needs to go out by whining or digging at the door.  His motivation is very one-dimensional, praise, a ball on a rope and high scent food can get his attention 24/7.  His foster family has a small rock garden that he has an affinity to rearrange via digging, but if corrected with a stern “no” command he will cease and desist #LilFungShuiNeverHurts.

Forrest would do best in a home that understands his special needs and the challenges that come with them.  He is great with older kids and would love to have a brother or sister dog to play with (size does not matter) and he does well around livestock as well.  If you have some room in your heart and a spot on the couch for this young fella who comes with a built-in pirate costume #OneEyeButCanStillSee, please apply and make this kangaroo puppy a part of your forever home!

Our adoption process includes- completion of an application, followed by a telephone interview.

Adoption Donation: $500.00

Transport along Interstate 5 (Rowland Heights, CA to Edmonds, WA) is available but cost not included in adoption fee.

For all inquiries, please fill out our adoption application first, as the volunteer answering emails is probably not the coordinator for the specific foster home/dog.
