Figo is a lover of being around his person, he is a shy and guarded fella until he feels safe with you then he blossoms like alpine wildflowers in the spring.  He is an old soul that has an affinity for being an undercover love sponge.  If you are looking for a dog that is the permanently bonded to you type then Figo might be your guy.

If Figo was a human he just might be the Dos Equis guy aka the most interesting man in the world.  He has a multitude of personalities but we believe that he could fill the shoes of Indiana Jones, Patch Adams, and Neil Degrasse Tyson all at the same time.  Once you gaze into his amber eyes you will understand the depth of his soul and the myriad of jobs he could have as a human.  Figo is very sensitive to emotions and will immediately sense if you are having a bad day or something is wrong, then he springs into super lovey mode and just wants to fix whatever has troubled you.  His foster always thought he appeared a little different than a typical Malinois, so he was Embark DNA tested and came to find out he is an imposter!  The results came back as 54.7% Australian Cattle Dog, and 45.3% German Shepherd Dog, so that equals 100% Figo! #ButILookSoHandsome

Figo also is in negotiations for starting a pest extermination business, his foster mom says that he is quite the rat disposal apparatus.  Some of this might be from his monkey see monkey do observation that he has with his foster sister.  Either way, if you have a place that has rodents this guy might be a good one to have on the payroll #CheapLaborWorksForCookies.  He rides great in the car and enjoys car rides, the vet’s office is terrifying and usually requires a muzzle or some preemptive sedation to make the visit as stress-free as possible.  This dog is unfazed by fireworks, but if a bowl or book falls anywhere in the house he tucks tail and goes to his safe space until the all-clear is given by his foster mom. He enjoys walks with his foster sister up to about 3 miles then he is done and just wants to go home.  Additionally, bicycles are not his jam, he isn’t a fan of them but shows no aggression towards them either.

During Figo’s time in foster, he has mastered Sit, Go Potty, Off, Bed Time, Here/Place, Gentle, Load Up, and Wait commands.  Other commands that he is working ever so hard to master are waiting in a down position and heel.  He is the perfect gentleman around the house as he has never been destructive behaviors inside or outside the house.  Sometimes when he has had enough of the daily events or tasks he will go put himself in his kennel, as to say “I need a break from you people!”, if attention is given he will stay with you 25 hours out of the day to get some pets or rubs.  Figo is very food motivated and has been working some serious overtime hours with his foster mom to learn that getting all up in your human's face does not equal getting food non-stop #TheIRSIsGonnaTakeAllHisOTMonies.

Figo is an amazing dog that has been with his foster mom for a year, during that time he has come out of his little standoffish shell and turned into an amazing dog that just needs a forever home.  His forever home would be one with no children, some land to roam around on, possibly one other dog (female), and a really chill environment with hardly any visitors.  He would be a great farm dog to de-rat a barn or garden, an adventure buddy for short quiet walks, and a great addition to your couch that you didn’t know you needed until you met him.  It takes some time for him to warm up and be comfortable around new people #WarmsUpLikeAnOldTractor, so if you have the environment that would best suit Figo and have some space in your heart for this special guy don’t wait to apply!
