Cedar is a very affectionate and sweet young pup. He loves leaning on people; it doesn’t matter if he just met you or you have been in his life since day one, he will melt into your lap.  Also, if you are willing to give some belly rubs, he will stay rolled over all day long or until you get tired of scratching his soft puppy tummy.

If Cedar had a job, he would for sure be a bartender!  This guy loves meeting new people, welcomes them into his circle, and gets to know them.  #SamFromCheers  Nothing would be better after a long day at work than to sit down with a cool drink served by Cedar and shoot the breeze.  He is highly affectionate, if you have not picked up on that by now. As for being around kids, he would probably be best around older kids, since he is still young and pretty mouthy.  While he does enjoy playing with other dogs, he is currently not a big fan of dogs larger than him, as they are a little intimidating.  But he warms up quickly to dogs that are smaller than him, and he does enjoy playing with them, but does get a little spooked if the other dog initiates the play time.  #IPlayOnMyTerms

Cedar does not like going in his crate to ride in the car, but he has had a couple of short, uncrated rides and did well with them.  Also, he is not a fan of loud noises; he gets very scared and looks to his human for comfort.  During his visit to the vet’s office, he was loved on by all the staff and soaked up the experience like the little love sponge he is.  His foster has taken him into the office a couple of times, and he did well in his crate during most of the day but did get to come out to visit and playtime during breaks and lunch.  One thing he loves besides people is his zoomies and playing with cardboard boxes.  #MightBePartCat  A funny thing that his foster noted that he does is that he will “sploot” under the couch or bed so that his hind legs will just be sticking out.

During Cedar’s time in foster, he has learned the Sit command.  Since he is still a little guy, he is working on learning Recall, Crate training, Potty training, Down, Shake, being reactive to large dogs, jumping on people, and chewing on his favorite person.  Granted, these “bad” habits will change over time with training and age.  His crate training is a work in progress; he can be convinced to go in but often whines or barks for a bit if there is no food or reward involved.  Additionally, he does try to chew on things and will usually stop with verbal correction or redirection with a toy.

Cedar is searching for his forever home, which is in need of a puppy who has limitless potential to be the best dog ever, but will require some solid training and upkeep for that to happen.  He would be best in an active home that includes him in all their adventures!  There is a possibility of him being able to be a spot dog in FASTCat or some nose work, since he loves using that sniffer of his.  So, if you are in the market for a puppy, look no further than Cedar!
