Zion is a gentle giant who seems to glide through the world with the most chill “old man” vibes. This fella is super low-key and lives a beautiful, uncomplicated life where his biggest worry is how many head pats and ear scritches he is going to get during your morning coffee time. Think this mellow man is the right fit for your home?
If Zion were a human and had to have a human job, his foster thinks that he would be a retired hardware store greeter. Just an old man in a cozy vest hanging out on a stool near the front of the store who gives you a friendly “howdy” as you walk in. He knows where everything is but isn’t super chatty, so you might have to ask for his help. His gentle soul radiates through his pure heart of gold; sometimes you might confuse him for a Lab since he is just happy to be here with you.
During car rides, Zion gets pretty anxious but yet seems to be excited. During his visit to the vet’s office, he was anxious and nervous in the beginning. When there are loud noises around the house, he seems fine and does not really startle. With visitors coming over, he is calm but can be puppy-like and jumpy at the door for attention. His calm demeanor is great around kids; he usually just naps nearby them rather than roughhousing. Also, with other dogs, he is a rockstar and loves his sister, Lilo, who enjoys playtime, but he prefers relaxed company over high-energy craziness.
During Zion’s time in foster care, he hasn’t really “mastered” any commands, but he is working on Sit, Paw, Stay, and Heel commands. He has had a couple of accidents in the house right after he was brought home, but with proper supervision he hasn’t had any. Kitchen counters have all the yummy things, so he is very interested in them. #YouFoodSmellsSoGood The only thing he really does that needs some work other than basic obedience is his big dog bark. #GSDBigWoof He barks at neighbor dogs because he is happy, not a defensive bark. He is crate trained but would rather be around his people if they are home.
Zion is searching for his forever home that is preferably relaxed and low-key. The only big no is cats; he can't live with cats! #ZionSaysCatsAreFoodNotFriends. He came into the shelter with Lilo who he is bonded to so they so need to stay together, He’d love to have some kids to play with, a nice yard to stroll around and sun in, and a cozy spot to nap. So if you are looking for a mature gentleman that could use some polishing and who has a built in little sister and best friend, look no further than Zion!
Our adoption process includes- completion of an application, followed by a telephone interview.

Transport via air, and along Interstate 5 (Rowland Heights, CA to Edmonds, WA) is available but cost not included in adoption fee.
