What does Rissa love? Well, the answer to that is her people; she is pretty much your shadow 2.0 #IAlwaysFeelLikeSomebodysWatchingMe. She will sit by your side and lean into you for affection, and like most puppies, she has all the energy to join you during your daily activities as well.
If Rissa had a human job she would be a hall of fame level problem solver! This young lady is all about figuring out how things work. There has yet to be a flow feeder or treat dispenser that she cannot figure out in a short couple of minutes. As for her personality, Rissa is very affectionate with her people and curious about everything this big world has to offer. She has been cautious around men but has been friendly to women and the children that she has met. Sometimes it is slow going with her meeting new people, as she can be a little shy and reserved, but with more socialization and guidance from her people, we think that she will be a social butterfly in no time.
Rissa rides well while crated in the car, but she is a little too strong-willed to be riding loose, as she wants to be up front and drive. #NoThumbsCantDrive Loud noises such as city noise and thunder do not bother her. Since she is living in the city, there hasn’t been much of a chance for her to be introduced to livestock or any cats, so those interactions are all TBD at this point. At her foster’s house, she has kids (9-12 years old) and does great with them, but she does bark at the neighbor kid sometimes. #WhoCanBlameHer If there are strangers that come over and she sees that her foster family is welcoming them, she is more willing to meet them and take treats, but it can take a while for her to warm up.
During Rissa’s time in foster care, she has mastered the Sit command. She is also working on Stay, Come, respecting boundaries, and not jumping on people. During training, she works best for treats, since you know #FoodIsLife, she is a typical busy puppy who responds well to verbal correction if she is doing something that you don’t want her to be doing, such as stealing shoes, chewing on items, jumping on people, etc. When outside in the yard with her sister, she is pretty non-destructive, but if she is bored on her own, she will attempt to start an open-pit mine in the back yard or help you prune your bushes, whether they need it or not. Additionally, she is still working on crate training, which is not her favorite place to be, and sometimes she will attempt to dig out of it as well. She will sleep in her crate soundly overnight but is not a fan of it if she knows people or dogs are still around and loose.
Rissa is looking for her forever home, which can provide her with the mental and physical exercise she needs. An active home with another dog or children would be fine with her. A person or family that will continue her training and let her tag along on their adventures. If you are looking for a smartypants young lady who would love to sleep on your bed, look no further than Rissa!
