Brisket is a loveable and loyal fella who just aims to please his person. He gets along great with other animals, including cats, other dogs, and horses! Also, he enjoys well-mannered children who respect his space and curious nature. Sounds like an amazing boy, right?
If Brisket were a human, he would be a world-class chef or food quality tester since #FoodIsLife. He is super curious about new things that he comes across in life; everything seems fun and new for Brisket. We are unsure of his background since he came into Woof as a stray, but he does have an amazing zest for life! One of the things that his foster mentions that he does is that he will “talk” to you, not like a nervous bark but more like the videos you see of Huskies talking to their person on the internet. Additionally, he is super playful and expressive with his actions; he uses his paws as his tool of choice to prevent you from going back to work.
Brisket does get car sick when riding in the car, so his foster has been working on that. During his most recent vet’s office visit, the staff all gushed over him, and he was very easy to handle. Around loud noises, he is rather reserved and cautious but is able to work through it with some direction and guidance from his person. His foster mentioned that Brisket might just be a mind reader since he can sense your mood and will console you if you have had a long day by snuggling up to you, and he will nuzzle you for belly rubs. Also, he is learning the joys of playing catch/fetch since it seems that he never had that in his life before and now enjoys playing with a ball.
During Brisket’s time in foster, he has mastered Sit, Wait, Inside, Down, Up/downstairs, Bathtime, and Yes (release) commands. He is still working on not counter surfing, feeding in his crate, loading up into the vehicle crate, Stay, and Find it commands. Crate training is a work in progress as he isn't a big fan of it, but does well in an outdoor kennel run. Any crating that lasts longer than two hours makes him very anxious when alone. Since he was a stray and is food motivated, he is working diligently on not counter surfing or raiding the trash can, but in his own words, “that is where all the yummy things are, and I want to eat them…”.
Brisket is looking for his forever home that would be active and include him in their day-to-day lives and adventures. Maybe a retired or work-from-home person would be great since he is not a stay-at-home-alone fan yet. We know that most dogs like Brisket take some time to come around due to their past, and he is not the best plug-and-play option for most people. But if you have some room in your home and heart, maybe Brisket is the dog for you!
