Are you missing some excitement when you come home from a long day at work?  Would you like someone to be excited to see you when you arrive?  How about a four legged gentleman? Yes, you say?! Well, sounds like it is already a match!

Ajax is just a wonderful man to be around!  He is calm and extremely well tempered in his home and loves to just lay around while his humans are doing things around the house.  Not only does he keep a watchful eye over his home and humans he is also very mellow and extremely smart.  If Ajax was a human his employment location would probably a standard blue collar job with working man house and he would relax after work by having a couple of frosty pints of pilsner #BlueCollarWorkinMan.  He will nudge you until you give in for continual pets.

During his time at his foster’s house he has mastered the following commands: Sit, Down, Place, Out, Kennel, and Come.  Other commands he has been working diligently to master are Go potty, Stay, and Heel.  Ajax may be best suited as an only pet, but has been successful sharing a home with another low-key, neutral dog.  He can not safely live with cats or other small animals.   When strangers come over he is initially shy and will sniff them until he is comfortable with them allowing them to pet him #LoveHimSomePets. Outside the home he can be reactive to people rushing up to him too quickly. He does well with his foster’s younger nieces who are large working dog savvy, but all introductions are slow and there is constant supervision.

While Ajax is a working breed, he is not a working dog and does not have any sport potential.  He just wants people to love him and to be lazy.  He does come with some mild energy burning requirements.  Daily walking, hiking, swimming or playing tug is a must!  Fetch really isn’t this thing, his world record is 5 minutes of fetch before it turns into laying down with the ball and chewing on it.  Ajax enjoys car rides and shows it by sleeping 95% of the time #SlowItDownBossImTryinToSleep.

He does great in the vet's office, loud noises do not bother him and he could probably sleep through a storm no problem.  One of the things that his foster said he does that makes them laugh is when he lays down he crosses his front feet nearly all the time, such a sophisticated gentlemen #FancyFeets.  Ajax is crate trained but does require an “Impact Crate” or another heavy duty crate as he has proven to be an escape artist when his humans are not at home.  He is not allowed to have “free-roam” when his foster is gone as he will expel his frustrations by tearing up random objects. His forever home will  need to set him up for success with clear boundaries, structure, and further training.  Training is quick for him and he loves working for cooked chicken breast pieces.  So if you are up for an amazing dog with tons of potential to be the perfect gentlemen for your low stress home environment, then you have found your life companion in Ajax.
