Zephyr is an affectionate, low-drive, moderate-energy girl who is looking to meet her forever family. She is very engaged once she gets to know people and wants nothing more than to be with her person. She loves a walk in the woods and is alert and interested while keeping close track of her human friends. If she were a human, Zephyr would be a manager – she likes to make sure everyone is doing what they are supposed to do and likes taking care of those around her.

Though she can be shy with new people, Zephyr enjoys being out exploring and hiking. She likes to meet people slowly, however, and will need time to greet new humans and likes strangers to give her space. She is very clear once she decides she wants to interact and will engage with eye contact and wag her tail. She can be reactive when passing people on walks but is easily redirected. Zephyr isn’t very interested in interacting with other dogs but does well with them when slowly introduced. She is continuing to learn basic obedience, has mastered a few commands and is fully crate trained. She can be destructive if left to her own devices but respects gentle verbal correction when need be.

Zephyr would do best in a quiet home where she could have lots of interaction time with her person. She will need a structured home as she is a bit insecure and would benefit from the security of a routine. Zephyr does not do well in urban environments and will require a rural home. She would like to be included in any and all family activities and may do well in a home with older children. Overall, a ball and her handler are all it takes to please this gal!

Must have previous or current, purebred Malinois experience OR other high drive working breed experience. Have no children under the age of 12 years old OR have extensive experience with children and high drive dogs.

Our adoption process includes- completion of an application, followed by a telephone interview. If that goes well, we will arrange for a home visit.

Adoption Donation: $450.00

Transport along Interstate 5 (Bakersfield, CA to Bellingham, WA) is available but cost not included in adoption fee.

For all inquiries, please fill out our adoption application first, as the volunteer answering emails is probably not the coordinator for the specific foster home/dog.
