ABOUT Violet

~DOB: 7/1/2022

Weight: 45lbs

Energy level: High

Overall drive: High

Location: Shingletown, CA

Violet is a young girl that would be best compared to the Swiss Army Knife of rescue dogs.  She is brilliant and up for almost anything you can throw at her!  This girl has a very high food drive #LayOffMeImStarvin24/7 and appears to be developing a very high toy drive as well.  Looking for an extremely driven, athletic, and shapable dog? Violet might be your girl!

If Violet was a human, her foster thinks that she would be a professional triathlete or ultra-marathoner.  This youngster bonds extremely well with her person and has a “rocketlike recall” back to them regardless of the situation.  She does well on a leash and loves going on walks and being busy.  Want to go outside, so does Violet.  Need help cooking dinner, Violet will help.  Want to hike all day long, Violet does as well.  Additionally, she gets along well with other dogs, both large and small.  As an added bonus, she leaves the resident cat alone at her foster home!

Violet can be slightly reserved around strangers when meeting them for the first time but warms up quickly when she realizes they just want to love on her.  For the most part, she does not mind other animals but would rather be engaged and playing with her person.  During her time in foster care, she has mastered Sit at a distance, Down at a distance, and recall commands.  She is working diligently on direct sends to objects as well. Being so young she will need continued training and direction with everything as she continues to grow and mature, clear boundaries and structure are a must.  This lady loves car rides but needs to be crated during them as she thinks she would like to help with the driving #BackSeatDriver.  Also, she did fine at her intake vet’s office visit, those can be scary sometimes for pups, but she got through it with ease.

Violet’s foster has told us that she is OK in the house, but needs to be monitored.  This means if she is not actively engaged with training or being watched that her puppy brain will take over and turn the house into a giant Mario Kart track.  #VioletHasOnlyBlueShells  She does not walk anywhere, it is full bore haulin’ booty everywhere she goes, so she is usually on a leash inside the house just dragging it around so her foster can get a handle on her before she goes too bananas. #ThanksGwenSteffaniForHelpingMeSpellBananas  She is not destructive other than a few soft toys in the beginning which kind of just exploded in Violet’s vicinity, but for the most part, she is getting better with her toys and has left everything else in the house alone.

Violet is looking for a forever home to help her grow from a young energetic princess to the directed energy queen we know she can be.  We believe that she could excel in most dog sports and could possibly make a great detection or SAR K9.  She will need a lot of brain work, physical activity, and calming obedience on a daily basis.  If you are looking for a driven high-energy young lady that can do anything, Violet might be the one for you!
