Garrett is the best buddy you will ever want in life as he just wants to be around his person all the time!  He is super stoked to do whatever they want to do and whenever they want to do it, he is ready to rock and roll at the drop of a hat and will be your right-hand guy no matter what.

If Garrett was a human, he would be the best party planner that has ever graced the earth.  He is always looking for something to do and wants to be engaged with his human and his pack of dog friends at all times.  Not too much is known about Garrett before he came into the rescue, but he does love to play and cuddle with equal exuberance. #TheWorldIsGarrettsPlayground  Once given direction and time he will settle down and snuggle up right next to you.

Garrett is neutral toward people, and it has been mentioned by friends of his foster that he is a very “kind dog”.  That being said, on initial introductions things need to be kept very positive as he can be slightly shy in the beginning.  Upon first meeting Garrett he might come off as a bit aloof until he has decided you are an acceptable and safe person.  He does fine with older kids but might be too energetic for young children.  As for riding in the car, he does OK but still isn’t very comfortable.  During his vet’s office visit, he wore a muzzle as a precaution and training opportunity, but never showed signs of aggression and loved the yummy treats from the vet tech at the end of the appointment.  Loud noises startle him, but he recovers quickly.  He is not a fan of being crated at this point but has made much improvement.

During Garrett’s time in foster, he has mastered the Sit, Down, Wait, Off, and Come commands.  He is working diligently on mastering not pushing himself onto people when they have food, not zooming around the house, and not whining in his crate.  #AllHardThingsForGarrett  He is house-trained but is extremely curious and is a complete food hound aka Mr. Steal Yo Sammich.  On the plus side, he is not destructive in the house other than his toys exploding which he says it’s not his fault and that he is actually an undercover toy tester, shhhh.

Garrett is looking for his forever home in which he can be active to burn off this excess energy and for a person or family that can give him the attention and mental stimulation that he requires.  He would love to have another dog to play with, probably someone his size since he can be a little rough in his play style.  As for sport potential, there is a possibility that Garrett might like dock diving after being comfortable in the water, and he does have quite the sniffer on him so possibly nose work or barn hunt might be good choices as well. But, for now, being an active family companion is his sweet spot. We hope you will give Garrett a chance to shower you with love and laughs!
