ABOUT VIENNA

Age: 2 years

Gender: Female

Weight: 60 lbs

Energy Level: Moderate

Overall Drive: High

Location: Redmond, WA

Vienna is an energetic, happy, friendly dog with high human engagement. Her mix of energy and willingness to settle down in the house makes her an ideal dog for someone looking for a Malinois that can adapt to different environments and situations. Vienna has intermediate-level obedience, picks up on new games very quickly, and could easily excel in dog sports. She loves walks and runs with her person, plays with most toys, but tug is really her favorite game. Vienna is easy to fall in love with and will be someone’s best friend in a short time.

Towards humans, Vienna is affectionate and cuddly. All around she is curious, confident, and a lot of fun. She does have high prey drive so a home with no cats, small animals, or children is required. When out on walks and encountering cows and horses she was fine just watching calmly.

Around other dogs, she is fine at a distance on leash, even if the other dogs are barking/lunging at her. Vienna would likely do best as the only dog home or with a handler skilled enough with properly introducing dogs and interpreting and reacting to behavior. She’d probably be fine with a puppy after spending some time getting to be part of a family and establishing set boundaries and structure. She doesn’t have a lot of experience around adult dogs and doesn’t read dog behavior well nor has she learned to respect their cues.

Vienna rides well in the car, is well-mannered at the vet’s office, and is unphased by loud noises. Most anything is a motivator, and she is eager to please, but engaging with her in games is plenty for her. A daily session or 2 of tug will have her glowing – she knows her “out”, “leave it” and “YES!” commands, making games fun for her handler too! Vienna walks well on a prong collar and is responsive to light correction.

Vienna’s ideal home will be both active and interactive. Malinois experience is required, and continued training will be imperative to everyone’s success. She truly loves her people so a home where she can be with her person more often than not would be best. With her high intelligence, desire to please, and toy and hunt drive, this girl could be your next competitor in almost any sport!
