ABOUT VESPA

Age: 2 years

Gender: Female

Weight: 54lbs

Energy Level: Moderate

Overall Drive: Moderate

Location: Gig Harbor, WA

Vespa is a looker and a lover! Her most striking feature is her blue eyes, but she has a sparkling personality to match. She loves to be with humans and will crawl into your lap every chance she gets. Sensitive and gentle, Vespa wants nothing more than to please her human. Her favorite thing is to go on long walks in the woods and she’d make a great running partner.

Vespa is slow to warm up with other dogs, but with proper introduction she is friendly to them as long as they respect her space. She wouldn’t be a great match for forward or dominant dogs and would likely do best sharing her home with a neutral male dog in her forever home. Because of her size and prey drive, she’ll need a home without cats/small animals or small children. Vespa loves riding loose in the car, is unshaken by loud noises, and is working on controlling her anxiety in new situations. She’s motivated by food and praise and responds well to verbal correction and does best when walked on a prong collar as she tends to pull. Vespa is working on basic obedience, is fully crate trained, and is working on not jumping on people when greeting them. She does love to dig, so a designated area for this behavior is advised, or your yard may look like Swiss cheese!

Smart, curious, and active, Vespa’s ideal home would be one where she would have plenty of opportunity to exercise her body and her mind. She’d likely do best in a calmer home environment with few other pets. Vespa loves humans and would do well with older children. She enjoys using her nose and might do well in agility, nose work, or barn hunt. This girl can’t wait to flash those baby blues and reel in her perfect forever family!

West Coast adoptions only, HOWEVER, if application is strong we may consider placement in other Western US states.

Our adoption process includes- completion of an application, followed by a telephone interview. If that goes well, we will arrange for a home visit.

Adoption Donation: $400.00

Transport along Interstate 5 (Bakersfield, CA to Bellingham, WA) is available but cost not included in adoption fee.

For all inquiries, please fill out our adoption application first, as the volunteer answering emails is probably not the coordinator for the specific foster home/dog.
