ABOUT HAZEL

~DOB: 4/1/2021

Weight: 50 lbs

Energy Level: High

Overall Drive: Moderate

Location: Pullman, WA

Hazel is a very happy, goofy, friendly, and laid-back dog that has a “jock” streak that loves to be active.  On the flip side, Hazel is a giant cuddle bug who loves cuddling on the couch, playing with kids, and following along with her foster pack during horse trail rides.  Yes, you read that correctly she will follow a horse down a trail and not attempt to herd it!

If Hazel was a human, she would make a great police officer as she is always alert, on patrol, and makes sure everything is safe around her.  She is very quick to alert to strangers with a bark or two but has never shown any signs of aggression and once she know you, she will shower you with kisses.  This lady loves being around her people and adventuring in the great outdoors, she wants nothing more in life than to be a family dog that has someone to play with.  When it comes to strange dogs, she is non-reactive both on and off leash Additionally, her foster has a barn cat on the property that happens to be Hazel’s best pal in the animal world, so no need to fear for your feline friends around Hazel.  #CatsCanBeFriendsToo

Hazel rides well in the car and was a model citizen during her vet’s visit for her spay and the techs said she did amazing with them.  Loud noises do not seem to bother her other than producing a bark or two.  She does love to “patrol” her fence line around the property and will bark at absolutely nothing if she has not been exercised yet for the day.  Her goofy side comes out especially when there are balloons in her vicinity!  She will nose bump them like a seal into the air from sun up to sun down if you would let her.  Fetch is her number-one favorite pastime, so hopefully you have a solid throwing arm!  Hazel has mastered the Sit, Stay, Down, “go to bed, and Crate commands.  Other things she is working on are not jumping on people when she is excited and demanding people play with her and her toy.  #BroJustPlayWithMe24/7Plz

Hazel is looking for an active family that can keep up with her and continue her training.  She does great around livestock (horses), kids, cats, so with proper introductions she will likely integrate smoothly.  There have been no destructive habits noted and while she will nip at throw pillows when she wants to play, it has been getting better as she grows up.  We think Hazel would be a great sport prospect in the agility ring, in rally, or possible OB as she is an amazing athlete, loved to learn, and has a desire to please. .
