ABOUT TRINI

~DOB: 01/17/2021

Weight: 56 pounds

Energy Level: Moderate

Overall Drive: Low

Location: San Diego, CA

Trini is a Velcro dog through and though. She is incredibly affectionate, and just wants to be with her person all the time. No matter what you are doing or where life is going to take you Trini will be there!

Her foster states that if Trini was a human her job would be an emotional care companion, think of someone who put service and community above self. She just wants to keep you company and give you affection 25/8 #ExtraHourAndDayToGiveLove. We would like to imagine Trini as a human who visits veterans and elderly care communities just to lend them an ear to talk. This girl lives with two Shih Tzus and enjoys stealing their beds #IFitsISits. As long as she is near her person all is right in her world, she is an old soul that just wants to be loved.

Trini has been working on her socialization during her time in foster care. When she is outside, she appears to be a bit nervous and hyper-vigilant. She will go out to go to the bathroom and for walks around the neighborhood but she never really appears “happy” about it or at ease while doing it. If she knows you are going to visit a place she seems more OK with it #GirlJustWantsToKnowWhereYouAreGoing. She has visited the beauty salon and was just fine being friendly and social to stranger, but they need to know there are boundaries. Additionally, she does seem to prefer women to men, and has been fine with visitors coming over to her foster’s house. During her time in foster, she has mastered Sit, and Down. Commands still being worked on are Off aka no jumping, Gentle with little dogs, and Quiet in her kennel.

Trini does show some signs of reluctancy to go on car rides, but using a dried liver treat is usually enough to sucker her into going. She does great at the vet’s office, and loud noises do not seem to bother her. The only oddity she has is not liking being outside, once in a building she is fine but the outdoors are not her jam. This girl is perfectly house broken, zero accidents while in foster care. She has been known to raid a trashcan or two in her day so crating while you are away or keeping everything Trini-proof would be best for her #RaidersOfTheTrashCan. Crating can be a chore sometime and will require more training and work as she is not a fan of her crate/kennel. We believe most of these issues stem from previous interactions but they should be able to be worked through with some positive reinforcement, training, and time.

Trini is looking for a forever home that will continue her training to make her the best version of her that she can be. She would do best in a home with another dog, probably same size as her, someone to play with. Additionally, a low activity quiet home with possibly older kids (teenagers) would be good for her. This girl really just wants to be right next to you chillin’ on the couch watchin’ the game, or sleeping near you on the floor. So if think you have the home that Trini needs, please apply!
