Do you like the looks of a race car, but don’t want all the crazy stuff that comes with it like not being able to drive it on the highway and insane insurance?  Well Toast has the Malinois “race car” look but without all the crazy that usually comes along with the standard Malinois.  #LooksCrazyButNotCrazyFooledYa

If Toast was a human, she would make a perfect nurse.  She is super cuddly and loves lying next to you with her paws in your lap, as to tell you everything is going to be alright in life.  While she is 57 pounds, she carries it well and is actually on the smaller side or as Toast likes to call it the perfect couch sharing size!  #PersonalSpaceInvader  During the early stages of Toast being fostered it was noticed that she was very much a Velcro dog. Perhaps from her past life and lack of confidence, we will never know. But, over time she has got better with personal space, but she really loves being near you all the time.

Toast can be selective/slow for some introductions depending on the human or dog she is meeting.  Her foster says that it took her two days to warm up to their resident German shepherd, but on the third day they were playing like old friends.  When friends have come over (adult sized humans) Toast has been fine with them, never barked and even solicited some affection from them.  The foster has a resident bird that Toast is curious about but only looks into the cage, never shows any aggression.

She has gone on trips to Fiesta Island and by the 3rd time she was able to be off leash and was no longer grumbly when other dogs rushed up to her. She did well off leash and responded well to off leash verbal correction.

During Toast’s time in foster, she has mastered the Sit command.  She is working overtime on mastering the Down, Off, Come, and Place commands.  When on car rides, she does well, just very quiet and chills.  She is also well mannered at the vets’ office.  As for loud noises, she will go in her crate if at home, and if she is outside she will go to her human for comfort/guidance.  Some of Toast’s favorite things in the world are her human and food.  Food is her main motivator during training, and she will surf all the counters or raid the trash looking for goodies.  Toast is housebroken and has never been destructive or had any potty accidents in the home since coming into foster care.  #ButManFoodWillBeHuntedDownAndEatenHideYoLeftOvers

Toast is looking for her forever home that would be willing to take the extra effort with her to make her comfortable and include her in their daily life.  She is great with men and women alike, someone that maybe works remotely from home or is able to spend a lot of time with her so she is not home alone for long periods of time.  Additionally, we think that she might like an older dog companion or one that is calm at least.  So if you are interested in Toast, please apply!

Our adoption process includes- completion of an application, followed by a telephone interview.

Adoption Donation: $500.00

Transport along Interstate 5 (Rowland Heights, CA to Edmonds, WA) is available but cost not included in adoption fee.

For all inquiries, please fill out our adoption application first, as the volunteer answering emails is probably not the coordinator for the specific foster home/dog.
