Tapas is an easy-going guy that is up to do anything with his person. Everything from going on a hike in the mountains, run along the beach, or just hanging out around the house watching a movie. He loves to follow you around the house due to his curiosity as to what you are doing all the time. But if the sun is out, you can find him attempting to soak all of it up. #SunSponge

 

His foster states that if he had a human job that Tapas would be a lifeguard since he loves to hang out at the beach and people watch. This fella is nearly everything anyone would want in a dog, he is happy, loyal, and friendly. Tapas is a very quick learner and extremely observant, if you are happy then he is happy, if you had a bad day at work, he will come cuddle with you and listen to how Steve from HR took the last bacon maple donut. There are not many things in life that Tapas loves more than chasing his ball, long walks and cuddling with his person on the couch while watching a movie after a long week. He is simply outstanding!

 

Tapas is friendly to all guests that have come over and on occasion brings out his toy collection to show off to visitors. He is friendly with other dogs after proper introduction, but when out on a walk he prefers to take in nature and his surroundings rather than be a social butterfly. If he is directed to stop and let other dogs pass on the trail, he will do so without hesitation. Loud noises do not bother him but rather make him inquisitive as to what all the racket is about. Car rides are fine for him as he just hangs out calmly. One thing that he does that is unique is he has a deep affinity for skateboards! He is non-reactive to them passing by, but if there is an unattended one nearby it will be his new favorite toy, he will attempt to ride it as well. So, if you are a skateboarder and want to teach your dog how to skate, then Tapas might be your guy!

 

Tapas is motived most by food and praise. If it is mealtime and you are not moving quick enough, he will let you know by bringing his empty food bowl to you. #HelloImStarving Tapas is crate trained but sometimes takes come coaxing and a few tasty treats to get him in. He may whine and bark when first in his crate but settles very quickly. Since his time in foster he has never been destructive, and the only quirky habit he has is that he will occasionally do the #TheHumptyDance. Some of the commands that Tapas has masted during his time in foster are Sit, Shake, Laydown, and Stay.

 

Tapas is looking for a forever home that would have a single human or a human couple that has an active lifestyle. He is very chill and could be considered a couch potato at times, but he would love to have a yard to sun bathe in and someone to take him on hiking adventures or to the beach to romp in the waves. If you have that home and some room in your heart for Tapas, please apply!

Our adoption process includes- completion of an application, followed by a telephone interview.

Transport along Interstate 5 (Bakersfield, CA to Bellingham, WA) is available but cost not included in adoption fee.
