Tanna is a special girl who just wants to be close to her person. Though she’s had a rough start to her life, she’s learned that people can be partners and can teach her about the world. If she were a human, she’d be a boss – always ready to make the rules, but also ready to listen to those around her.
Tanna is friendly with people, affectionate, curious, and protective. She has shown great house manners in her foster home, rides well in the car, and is highly food motivated which makes training easier. Tanna is deaf, so she will need a handler who is comfortable using a vibration collar and/or hand signals to continue her training. She has mastered basic obedience using these tools and is currently working on not jumping and barking when first coming out of her kennel. Given her high prey drive, Tanna cannot share a home with children, cats, small dogs or other small animals. Tanna loves being with her person and doesn’t like being left alone. She is nearly crate trained, though she will still try and get out of her crate when feeling anxious. Her new handler will need to continue working her through this anxiety until she feels more comfortable.
Tanna is looking for someone who will be as attached to her as she is to them and would be able to spend as much time as possible by her side. She would do best as an only dog as her being deaf makes playing with and taking cues from other dogs challenging. Tanna looks to her handler for direction and guidance, and she needs someone who can continuously provide reassurance and encouragement to her. This special girl has only just begun to experience how great life can be – could you be the one to gift her with forever?
