ABOUT TALLIE

Age: 2 years

Gender: Female

Weight: 65lbs

Energy Level: Moderate

Overall Drive: Moderate

Location: Ocean Park, WA

Tallie is a perfect dog for anyone wanting a dog that has gone through the basics of training and young dog behaviors, but still has energy and potential for learning new games and tricks.  She is affectionate, eager to please, very smart, and picks up new things very quickly.  She is good with her foster dog sibling, great on the leash and would be great for someone who wants a walking, jogging, or hiking companion.  She’s got a goofy personality, regularly making her foster mom laugh, and is truly a dream to be around.

Tallie has a love of stealing toys, blankets, sticks, and really anything she can find then parading them around to try and get you to “catch” her – which may be her way of reminding you that she needs to get out for some physical and mental exercise. Tallie can be a bit cautious and unsure of new situations and people, but she quickly warms up and gains confidence.  She has been great with kids from toddlers and older and is gentle about taking treats from people.  Her curious and adventurous side shines through in her joy of exploring new spaces, swimming, running on the beach, hiking, and any other engaging game with people or a good session of keep away with other dogs. She is still learning to respect boundaries from other dogs so proper introduction and supervision will help her to make good choices and good canine friends.

Tallie is potty trained, crate trained, rides well in the car, and is well-mannered at the vets’ office. She does have some aversion to loud noises and likes to retreat to the safety of her covered crate for comfort. She has been working on re-focusing to her handler for a treat during unexpected noise and has made excellent progress. Tallie has mastered her basic skills and working hard to become proficient in more advanced tasks. She is motivated most by food, then praise, and only requires mild verbal correction.

Tallie would be ideal for someone wanting a companion to exercise and grow with daily.  Someone who has a semi- active lifestyle would be best for her, as she really needs daily exercise (both physical and mental) to be her best self.  Tallies love for engagement paired with her desire to please and intelligence make her a great candidate for activities like agility, rally, scent work, etc. This super smart girl is just waiting for you to show her the ropes and teach her some new games!
