ABOUT RAKETE

Weight: 65lbs

Energy Level: Moderate

Overall Drive: Moderate

Location: Mount Vernon, WA

Rakete is a young growing boy that is quite the amalgamation of breeds.  He appears to be a Malinois by looks but actually is a Mal/GSD/ACD wonder mutt mix that is laid back and easy going as the day is long.  He does have some drive, but it is not over the top which makes him a joy to be around.

If Rakete was a human, he would either be an artist like Bob Ross just painting happy trees and going with the flow of life.  But during the winter he would be a member of the local Ski Patrol hanging out with his pals on the slopes carving up some fresh powder.  He is pretty much a Labrador but in a Mal costume.  This fella is affectionate, friendly, playful and has been known to chill on hit cot at his foster home for long periods.  During his time with his foster, he has had some of his prior issues ironed out, as he had some separation anxiety issues and was not a fan of his crate.  Now he is crate trained and will go in it just to hang out and relax.

He is friendly with strangers and has never met anyone he does not consider a friend.  Additionally, he is dog neutral but can be over enthusiastic when greeting them and crowd their personal space which will need work on, and he will probably age out of over time.  His foster has not tested him around children nor livestock or small fuzzy animals.  With some work and training he would probably be fine with children over 5 years old and possibly smaller dogs or a cat.  Not much phases this guy as he has proven to be fine with car rides, vet’s office visits and good around loud noises.  One of his quirks is he does this “squinty eye” think which makes everyone think he is judging them, can be quite hilarious in most settings.

During his time in foster Rakete has mastered Here, Sit, Down, Place, Kennel, Out and Get It (Fetch game).  Some of the items that he is still working diligently on are off leash obedience and nosework.  His favorite things are playing ball, working for treats and playing/being around other dogs.  He is house trained but will test boundaries and would more than likely counter surf if given the opportunity.  Most of his “I’m going to chew on everything” puppy stage is in the rearview mirror at this point, but it would be best that you keep a watchful eye on him and help him learn what is OK to chew on in your home.  The ideal home for Rakete would be one that embraces his fun and chill personality but will set firm boundaries and rules as to not allow him to run the show.  His early life was not very structured, and it has been a long road to get him where he is today, so someone that is willing to keep up with his training would be best.

This youngster would love to come hang out with you on your couch, at the beach, at a brewery and most of all on your bed.  So, if you have a room in your life for a young fun dog with tons of pet potential then look no further than Rakete.
