Stallone can be quite the goofball. He acts very serious, and then will randomly break out into a play bout and bounce around. He really wants to be a lap dog, despite his size – this big guy just wants to be close to people and be loved on. If he were a human, Stallone would be a bodyguard. He might look big and intimidating, but deep down he’s a kind boy who takes the rules seriously and isn’t one to be taken advantage of.
A big teddy bear at heart, Stallone will melt into you once he is comfortable with you. He’s a dog that will hang out with you but isn’t pushy for attention. He is cautious when meeting new people and will need time to settle in. He will need to be taught very clear boundaries in his new home as he is a dog that needs a routine and schedule, who thrives with consistency. Stallone has done well outside of his home on leash, ignoring other people and other dogs. In his foster home, he has done well with other dogs. He isn’t particularly playful and prefers to just watch the other dogs play. Given his size, he would do best in a home with larger dogs. Stallone has very high prey drive and cannot share his forever home with smaller animals like cats, chickens, or the like. He would also do best in his home with older, dog savvy children. Stallone rides well loose in the car, has done well with loud noises, and requires firm but fair correction. He is working on becoming more comfortable in his crate with time alone. He will need a strong, experienced handler who can enforce boundaries and manage his bullying behavior when he doesn’t get his way. Stallone will need a strong crate as he has chewed through plastic and would likely do the same with a wire one.
Stallone’s ideal home would be one with a handler who has experience with huskies. The handler would be the perfect blend of someone who can set limits but also build his confidence as he continues to learn. He will need regular exercise and would be a great fit for an active home – he’d love to be a running or jogging partner and exploring nature trails during hikes! A consistent schedule would be ideal, and a commitment to his continued training required. Stallone is trying his best to continue to learn, and he’s looking for a handler who will be willing to mentor him as he grows!
