Meet Scout – Your Future Teammate, Trail Buddy, and Training Partner!

Gig Harbor, WA | ~35 lbs | Born 12/29/2024 | Moderate Energy | Moderate to High Drive

Scout isn’t just another cute puppy—he’s a thinker, a doer, and a dog with purpose. At just a few months old, this German Shepherd/Blue Heeler mix is already showing the brains, drive, and curiosity of a working dog. Whether he’s army crawling under obstacles, proudly balancing on a step stool to observe his humans, or solving puzzles for treats, Scout is always eager for his next challenge.

Smart as a whip and food-motivated, Scout learns new behaviors in minutes. He thrives on structure, play-based training, and new experiences. He’s currently working on recall games, obedience, and exposure to new sights, sounds, and surfaces. While his original handler hoped to pursue search and rescue with him, Scout’s talents would shine in scent work, agility, flyball, or even herding. If he were human, he’d be an Olympic skateboarder—always moving, always watching, and totally committed to the thrill of the game.

Scout has a moderate to high energy level and will need regular physical exercise and mental stimulation. He’s a friendly pup who especially adores kids, though he still needs some guidance to curb his enthusiastic greetings and puppy nippiness. With other dogs, he’s vocal and excited but improving every day with training. He plays well off-leash with medium to large dogs and takes correction well from older canine companions.

Scout is crate trained, house trained, and respectful of boundaries with supervision. He’s still working on avoiding counter-surfing and—fair warning—he’s not a good match for homes with cats due to a strong prey drive. He rides quietly in the car (though motion sickness is a challenge), and he’s been calm around loud noises, heavy equipment, and public outings. This pup is funny, lovable, and full of potential. He needs a home that’s ready to guide his bright mind and big heart into something meaningful. If you’re someone who enjoys training, outdoor adventures, and building a lasting bond with a remarkable dog, Scout might just be your perfect match.
