ABOUT RUDDER

Age: ~3yrs
Gender: Male
Energy level: Moderate
Overall Drive: Moderate
Location: Springfield, OR

Rudder is an approximately three-year-old Malinois who is loving, affectionate, and very smart. Once he bonds with his person, they will have an amazing companion for the rest of his life; he will do anything for his family. If he were a person, Rudder would be a greeter and security guard, he likes to patrol the house and will warn off potential intruders but loves to meet people he knows who come to visit him.

Though he may have had a rough start to his life, Rudder still trusts people. He is affectionate to those who know him, however aloof with strangers outside the home. He has done well in the veterinarian’s office; he plays well with other dogs and ignored their owners. The livestock he has met in his foster home are a curiosity, and he isn’t overly aggressive to sheep in his herding class. Rudder is not a good fit for homes with cats. He is working on limiting his counter-surfing and is trained to use a dog door and a crate. He has mastered walking well on a leash as well as some other basic obedience commands. Rudder, in occasion, can experience some separation anxiety, but that is improving.

Rudder’s favorite thing is to be with his person and receive love and affection, and you could be that person! He would be a great companion for someone who would take him on runs, walks, and bring him along on any adventure. Rudder can hardly wait to meet his forever family and hopes they would have another medium to large dog with whom he could be friends. He will need someone who will be patient as he continues to learn, and he will reward them with loyalty, affection, and gratitude.
