Ripley is a smart, loving, and playful girl! If she had a job, she would be in pest control due to her strong prey drive, but can always settle down for some belly rubs at the end of the day. In fact, she will probably demand those belly rubs by pawing you!

As a smart pup, Ripley will test her boundaries but is generally well-mannered and responds well to verbal correction. She needs lots of physical attention and, if allowed on the furniture in her new home, would be an enthusiastic lap dog! Outside of the home, she can be a bit timid and anxious in new environments and is leash reactive in particular situations that involve strangers approaching quickly and directly with eye contact and to other reactive dogs. Ripley is house-trained, crate-trained, and muzzle-trained (basket). In addition to her basic obedience, she also knows quite a few more commands; some of which include: heel (middle/right), crawl, and put it away (for toys in a bucket)! Her foster has also started nose work with her.

Ripley would do best in a quiet, adult home with no small animals or cats. She could live with another dog, but a calm and neutral male would be best! Her new owner(s) should be willing to keep her physically and mentally stimulated with daily exercise and training. She enjoys learning new things and nose work but does not have great stamina. Sports she may enjoy are ones that activate her prey drive, like lure coursing, barn hunt, or dock diving. Her new family will need patience and compassion as they work on her socialization (mainly leash reactivity and confidence with new people/situations) which shouldn’t be too arduous with her high intelligence and food/toy motivation.

West Coast adoptions only, HOWEVER, if application is strong we may consider placement in other Western US states.

Must have previous or current, purebred Belgian Malinois experience OR other high drive working breed experience. Have no children under the age of 12 years old OR have extensive experience with children and high drive dogs.

Our adoption process includes- completion of an application, followed by a telephone interview. If that goes well, we will arrange for a meet and greet.

Adoption Donation: $500.00

Transport along Interstate 5 (Bakersfield, CA to Bellingham, WA) is available but cost not included in adoption fee.

For all inquiries, please fill out our adoption application first, as the volunteer answering emails is probably not the coordinator for the specific foster home/dog.
