Quill is a sensitive boy who is eager to please and searching for someone who will give him time to shine. If he were a human, he would do any job as long as he was able to help people. Quill is very sweet, smart, and has a great sense of humor.

Once he is comfortable with someone, Quill is cuddly, attentive, and ready to work. His feelings of being unsure run deep, and he will need a handler who is patient, experienced, and gentle. He is working on building his confidence and will need a home where he can continue to bravely come out of his shell. Quill will need slow, controlled introductions to new people and does best when he has time to warm up to them on his own terms. He can be reactive to unfamiliar people but has responded well to counter-conditioning and relaxation work in his foster home. Quill has done well at the veterinarian’s office when with his handler, rides great in a crate in the car, isn’t bothered by loud noises, and is fully crate trained in his foster home. He has mastered basic obedience and is continuing to learn new commands each day along with working on decreasing his reactivity and improving his anxiousness.

Quill has the potential to excel in a dog-savvy home with an experienced handler willing and able to give him the time and attention he needs to continue to improve his confidence. This has been proven while in his foster home. He has an endearing strong desire to please and learn and is very people-oriented when he warms up to them. He would likely do best in a home without small children but may be able to share his home with cats and does well with other dogs when introduces properly. Quill has been patiently waiting for his perfect person and we know he is willing to give all of himself in return!
