Noah is sweet, clumsy, a whole lot curious, and a little bit needy He’s a great high-energy companion that wants nothing more than to be right at his person’s side. This need of support stems from his lack of confidence. Noah does spook easily when outside of the home from loud noises, new people, or dogs barking at him. He’s not reactive but will want to retreat to the house with his person to find comfort in a familiar and predictable space. His foster says he’s like a sweet, innocent kid you want to put in your pocket to keep safe. However, he will need consistent work in exposure to help him gain confidence and be his best self. Inside the home he will alert to new people but then will shower them with as many kisses as possible when introduced properly.
While Noah does live with cats and a small dog just fine, he often forgets his size so playtime must be supervised. He tends to play rough and may do best as an only dog. He travels well when crated in the car, and although anxious at the vet, he has met them enough to happily engage with them. Noah is a typical teenager and while he is smart and has mastered his basic skills, he is also stubborn and prefers to get training treats even when he doesn’t listen. He’s mastered the art of giving a solid side eye glare when his person doesn’t fall for his antics! Playing and treats are his biggest motivators, and firm correction/redirection is required when he tests boundaries.
Noah is potty trained, sleeps soundly in his crate at night, but can be vocal if crated too long during the day. If bored or given the opportunity he may play with items not intended for a dog or get into the trash. However, with continued physical and mental stimulation, clear boundaries, and plenty of structure he should continue to make great strides.
Noah is looking for an active handler who has a calm and low-key home. Noah is under socialized, lacks exposure, and will need a patient handler to help him gain confidence and be successful. His love for his handler runs as strong and deep as his desire for attention and affection so someone home more often than not would be ideal. A good game of tug, running on the treadmill, romping in the yard, and working for his meals are all activities he enjoys. Although he has much to work on, can be anxious and demand attention, once you do get to know him, you won’t Noah sweeter boy!
