ABOUT MUSCOVY
Age: 5 months
Gender: Male
Weight: 40lbs
Energy Level: Moderate
Overall Drive: Moderate
Location: Vancouver, WA
Muscovy has not had the best start in life, but he is catching up on all the socialization and training that he has missed! Him and two of his littermates were literally found roaming the street of Stockton, CA in starvation mode. Because of that, he has shown some food and high-value resource-guarding with other animals. He can be sensitive to fast movements and be a little hand-shy.
In his short time in foster, he has already overcome a lot of his fears! Leashes use to mean #OMGImDying and he had to be carried everywhere like a #BigBaby. Now, he is walking on a leash multiple times a day with barely any drama. He still sometimes spooks, but does recover and is learning to trust the leash holder to keep him safe. Thankfully, treats/kibble are a huge motivator for him, along with gentle praise.
Muscovy is decent in the bath after a few valid escape attempts (waterproof apron recommended for this guy). He is surprisingly fantastic for getting his ears cleaned and nails dremeled. His foster is still working on his basic obedience, as they have just been mainly focusing on confidence building and handler engagement.
Muscovy's forever home would be one with no small children, a quiet backyard, cats ok, possibly one other neutral dog or none, and a really chill environment. He would be a great adventure buddy for secluded/quiet walks, and a great addition to your couch that you didn’t know you needed until you met him. If you have the environment that would best suit Muscovy and have some space in your heart for this special guy don’t wait to apply!
