Mica is a fun “older” gal who enjoys the finer things in life, such as going on adventures, being close to her human, and chillin’ on the couch. She is a softer dog who wants to please her human more than anything else. We don’t know a whole lot about her life before she came into the rescue but it seems she was most likely an outside dog who is still learning to be an inside dog, can you help her out with that?
Mica’s foster said that if Mica was a human and had one of our “amazing” #YesThatIsSarcasm jobs she would make an amazing investigative journalist. She just wants to be involved with everything that you are doing, not so much of a micromanager thinking you are doing it wrong. But more along the lines of a watchful eye who is just there to observe and help if needed. Overall, Mica is a pretty “soft” dog who is extremely easygoing, and who tries very hard to do exactly what you want but can get frustrated at times if she does not understand exactly what you are asking or if it is something she doesn’t want to do. That is where her food drive shines, as she will fly to the moon and back for some treats!
She loves car rides and just enjoys looking out the window or sleeping as the car hums down the road. During her vet’s office trip, she was a little nervous but was overall a good girl for all the staff. Loud noises do not get a response other than some whining from time to time since her foster house is near a military training base with loud helicopters and booms from time to time. If people walk by with their dog past the front of the house and she can see them, she will bark but nothing over the top. #HeyManStopPeeingOnMyMomsTree This lady is just happy all of the time and can play a mean drum solo on the kitchen cabinets with her tail!
In terms of training as mentioned earlier Mica is still learning the ground rules of being an inside dog. Potty training is going well and seems to be nearly complete, she will still quietly counter-surf or raid the trashcan right in front of you so there will need to be some boundaries set in the home. She has never been destructive in her foster home nor shown any signs of being sneakily destructive either. Cats are extremely interesting to her, possibly a little too much but she just fixates on them never anything else. As for meeting other dogs and humans, she is interested in them but nothing over the top. You can take her anywhere and she does fine. During her time in foster, she has mastered the Here, Kennel, and Wait commands. Additionally, she is currently working on boundaries in the home. She is crate trained but it is not her favorite place as she would rather be next to you.
Mica is looking for a quiet forever home that could include some weekend adventuring! She does well with other dogs and humans so maybe she could have both of them in her new home, or not. We think she would be fine as an only dog, but does not have typical “only child” qualities. So, if you are interested in learning more about Mica and bringing her into your home, please apply!
