Mercy is an approximately 12-month-old, female Belgian Malinois. Since she found her way to us as a stray, we don’t know very much about her history.

While Mercy's history is a bit of a mystery, we can tell you a lot about her currently, and what she needs to thrive, as she is in a wonderful foster home. We are lucky to have a KPA-CTP. trainer assisting at the shelter that has been kind enough to foster Mercy. Sierra has evaluated Mercy’s behavior and has provided an excellent temporary home until she is adopted.

Mercy's temperament and behaviors are very Malinois forward; she is very handler focused and biddable. She gets along well with other dogs, but she can be a little rude by pestering them to play with her. Mercy knows sit, down, shake and is crate and potty trained. She has begun nose work training and has no signs of separation anxiety. Mercy is great with strangers outside of the home however, can be very guarded inside the home so people cannot just show up unannounced.

Mercy will thrive in the right home, and will need a Malinois-savvy home. She needs continued training to be a good doggy citizen and a well adjusted member of her pack. She would do well in a home with other dogs who are given time and space to acclimate to her boisterous nature. We recommend a home with no kids, cats, or other small animals due to her lack of physical self-awareness and moderate prey drive. Again, she is very Malinois forward.

Mercy would excel in dog sports! She has a lot of energy and wit just waiting to be harnessed into something great. If you are Malinois savvy, have some experience in training and are looking for a focused and high drive member of your pack, Mercy may be the girl for you!

We know that the Malinois breed is very popular right now and anticipate high interest in Mercy. Mercy needs the right home, so we will be selective in her placement.

Mercy is up to date on vaccinations, spayed and microchipped.
