Lincoln might just be the perfect “starter mal” that will surprise you with how chill he is and charm you with his ravishing, good looks.  This youngster is perfectly happy just chilling and hanging out with his people, if you want to do something he is happy to pal along but if that something is just soaking up some rays in the backyard, he is content as well.  If he had a preferred spot in the house it would most definitely be on the couch or trying to sit one someone's lap.

If Lincoln was a human, his foster thinks that he would make a good surf bum.  You know the guy who is always super chill but never has a place to stay so he crashes on your couch all the time and eats your leftovers from the fridge.  #NoNameFairGame  Overall he is so chill sometimes it is easy to forget that he is of the pointy-eared fur missile breed.  He is still working on how “fetch” works, as he seems to show interest in the object thrown but it is a fleeting thought most of the time.  Around other dogs he is great, he has never shown any signs of aggression or dominance, and he would rather be everyone’s friend vice some sort of villain.  #YouveGotAFriendInMe  Also, he is a rockstar out in public at dog-friendly establishments, even the vacuum cleaner does not get a reaction from him.

During car rides, Lincoln is a 5-star passenger and at the vet’s office, he got right on the scale for his weighing so no issues there.  Around the house, he is non-reactive to loud noises and has been non-reactive to farm animals including chickens.  He has not been tested with cats yet, just a fyi.  This guy’s favorite thing in the world other than his people is playing with other dogs and finding the largest stick possible during walks.  Lincoln will try to play with every dog he comes across, he is not pushy about it but just enjoys playing with his own kind it seems.

During Lincoln’s time in foster, he has not really “mastered” any commands, but he is diligently working on Sit, Stay, Down, Come, Place, and Drop it.  During training time, he is equally motivated by praise and treats.  It should be noted that he is a very soft young man so only light verbal correction is needed with him.  If someone raises their voice around him, he will crumple to the ground in fear.  As for house manners, he uses the dog door to go outside for the bathroom and for his water bowl.  Don’t get it twisted, if he catches you lacking on his supervision he would more than likely swipe your sandwich or stick his head in the trash can to see if someone left anything yummy in there.  Other items being worked on are not jumping on people when meeting them, being mouthy (young mal…), and gets easily distracted during recall sessions.

Lincoln is looking for his forever home that will continue his training and possibly has another dog for him to pal around and play with.  He might be a little much for smaller dogs, but if they stand their ground he will correct quickly.  So, if you have some room on your couch and in your heart for this soft young man, please apply!
