Balls is life for Krtpto and he will move the earth to ensure he can get to the beloved orb of fun no matter where it is. He is willing to do whatever you want him to, and he strives to be the best you’ve ever seen no matter the task. He is high energy, high drive, and highly intelligent. The perfect trifecta with a highly skilled handler, but his smarts paired with a low tolerance of overstimulation can make him a mouthy handful to someone not familiar with picking up on subtle cues and de-escalation techniques. Overall, Krypto has mellowed into a Velcro dog while in foster. He wants nothing more than to be with his handler, has a huge desire to please, and an incredible work ethic.

Krypto seems interested in people when out of the house and will not initially express any dislike or displeasure with people who greet him. Krypto has become a bit more friendly with visitors in the home and will accept calm pets willingly. He enjoys the company of the other dogs in the home and will happily cuddle on the couch with human or dog friends for movie night. When outside the home an umbrella or awning may cause him to startle but he recovers quickly and then ignores it. His favorite game at home on the back patio is ‘The Floor is Lava’ and will happily bounce from one furniture item to another showing the biggest, goofiest grin you can imagine.

Krypto is potty trained, well-mannered at the vets’ office, and unphased by loud noises. Although he is crate trained, he prefers being out of his crate and must be guided in with his collar. Once in, he will voice his displeasure until he is told to relax and settle and will occasionally destroy bedding if he thinks someone is leaving and he will not be included. Verbal correction will stop this behavior. Krypto is uninterested in trash cans and does not counter-surf in the traditional sense, but if he is at the level of the item, he may become too curious and remove it from the coffee table. He has mastered basic commands, working to become proficient in more advanced skills, accepts moderate to firm verbal correction, with physical correction rarely required. 

 

Krypto has the potential to be an amazing dog and will need an experienced handler and ongoing training to ensure he is the best version of himself.  Clear boundaries, structure, and daily opportunities for physical and mental exercise are required. Homes with small children and small animals are not suitable and will not be considered. Krypto would probably be best as an only dog, although another similar sized and neutral dog might be okay. He needs a home with a very active lifestyle, but not an active household. Krypto is wicked smart and would be best served by having an actual job. A formal role such as SAR or detection would be good and appropriate outlets for him.

Transport along Interstate 5 (Rowland Heights, CA to Edmonds, WA) is available but cost not included in adoption fee.
