ABOUT KNUCKLEBALL

DOB: 9/11/2023

Weight: 77 lbs

Energy Level: Moderate

Overall Drive: Moderate

Location: Portland, OR

Remember the Slugger Litter with Alyssa and her 11 puppies? Have a puppy shaped hole in your heart? Knuckleball is the last puppy left and needs an adopter, foster to adopt, or new foster! KB has been going through professional training and picks things up super quickly. He loves to sniff things (tracking?), get treats for obeying commands (obedience?), chase his ball (flyball?), and loves the water more than just about anything. Puddles, water dishes, the toilet, if it’s wet, he wants it.

His coat is becoming a gorgeous dark sable and his ears love to rotate between double ear hat position, floppy goofball, and single Arecibo dish scanning for signals. This big dude is ready to get someplace where he can really stretch his legs and have a best friend to run around with.

With that, he’ll be fine being left for 4-5 hours at a time, and will greet you with all the love a puppy can give. He turned 6 months old on March 11, surpassed 70lbs, flew through another private training session, worked on getting his ears upright, and started cuddling with Foster Mom for the first time since he was a wee lad. He’s the happiest guy, definitely loaded with Maligator genes, and possibly mixed with , , or maybe Wookie.

KB has pretty high energy, high play/toy drive, high-ish food drive, and learns crazy fast. He plays well with other dogs who understand Shepherd style play, is happy 99.9% of his time awake (and probably asleep as well), has great protective instincts (strangers are encouraged to not be strange towards Foster Mom), and is starting to come into his brain. Except in play, where he’s all puppy, all the time.

His foster mom is head over heels for him, but he’s just too big and too active for her small condo, so we’d urgently like to find forever for him. He’s truly a special boy who has quite the fan following in his Portland neighborhood (where he’s been dubbed Knucklehead). They can’t wait to cry tears of joy when he finds his perfect forever family. Be prepared to pass their inspections as well! Don’t have a yard? Talk to us; he’s adaptable with lots of exercise. KB wants to play with cats, but isn’t obsessed. He doesn’t know his size and strength, so older dog savvy kids and similarly sized dogs (or bigger, as if) only, please, for now. He’s UTD on vaccines, is a super healthy boy, and has never known hardship. He loves life.

Local adopters, or adopters who travel in, will be treated to a private training session at High Expectations Dog Training in Camas, WA. They know what a special and smart boy he is and want to set everyone up for success. Transport can be arranged for strong applicants outside the Portland area as well. Foster Mom will be traveling in April and would really love for his forever fam to hand him his  soon.

Can’t adopt right now? Foster this amazing boy!

Our adoption process includes- completion of an application, followed by a telephone interview.

Adoption Donation: $500.00

Transport along Interstate 5 (Rowland Heights, CA to Edmonds, WA) is available but cost not included in adoption fee.

For all inquiries, please fill out our adoption application first, as the volunteer answering emails is probably not the coordinator for the specific foster home/dog.
