If you’re looking for the happiest, goofiest, most fun-loving companion for all activities from playing to snuggling, Kenai is THE girl for the job! She loves sharing life with her people, whether it is playing tug, chasing a ball, or wrestling with other dogs. She has never met a stranger!

Kenai is fully crate-trained. She loves riding in the car. She is friendly and submissive at the vets office. She is also unfazed by loud noises. Kenai is still mastering basic obedience, learning not to mess with or grab household objects around the house, and working on house-training. She currently does well tethered to her person, put on 'place', or being crated when full supervision isn't possible.

Food and toys are her biggest motivators, with verbal correction and redirection away from things being sufficient. She’s still very young and puppy-like, so setting her up for success with clear boundaries and structure she will learn what’s on and off-limits.

Kenai is highly engaged with her family and is so eager to learn. Her ideal home will be busier, active and able to provide plenty of physical and mental stimulation. Continued work on her obedience and socialization. She’d love to have another neutral dog to play with. She has been exposed to rabbits but not cats, she respects correction to stay away from them. With her desire to please, high intelligence, and love of chase, she may enjoy light bitework, lure coursing, agility, rally, search and rescue, or nosework.

West Coast adoptions only, HOWEVER, if application is strong we may consider placement in other Western US states.

Must have previous or current, purebred German Shepherd experience OR other high drive working breed experience. Have no children under the age of 12 years old OR have extensive experience with children and high drive dogs.

Our adoption process includes- completion of an application, followed by a telephone interview. If that goes well, we will arrange for a home visit.

Adoption Donation: $500.00

Transport along Interstate 5 (Bakersfield, CA to Bellingham, WA) is available but cost not included in adoption fee.

For all inquiries, please fill out our adoption application first, as the volunteer answering emails is probably not the coordinator for the specific foster home/dog.
