Keebler is a people-person kind of dog, that wants nothing more in life than to be with his human and make them happy. His fun-loving nature and young age put him in the perfect spot for someone looking for a lifelong companion who is super trainable and has some drive! He is social with other social dogs and enjoys pack play with his home pack as well.

If Keebler was a human he would be the perfect college freshman as he loves studying, learning new things, and working for his ball. #BallIsLife During his first week of being on campus he walked onto the college tennis team as well. #NaturalAthlete He is a very curious young man who can be independent at times and has a confident and bold streak. During his time in foster he has shown really good impulse control, he is able to sit on a park bench and watch horse-drawn carriages, other dogs, rollerbladers, and runners go buzzing past him and he doesn’t mind nor want to chase. With some guidance during walks, he will ignore passing dogs, but he has shown a large interest in cats, bunnies, and deer from a distance.

Keebler loves car rides, but if buckled in or on a tether he can get a little rambunctious, so he usually rides in a crate. During his trip to the vet’s office, he was nice to everyone there, but the instruments he was not a big fan of such as being on the scale, stethoscope, and thermometer. #YoureGoingToPutThatWhere He has been around loud noises and none of them seem to bother him including fireworks and gunfire. For training time with Keebler, his number one reward is his ball, followed secondly by praise but some yummy treats never hurt either! If he is doing something that you don’t want him to do just a firm “no” and some light to medium pressure on the leash will stop him in his tracks. As for house manners, he is house-trained but will take a swipe at food left out if given the opportunity. #MeTooBro Additionally, he has shown some interest in the trashcan cupboard in the kitchen but has never attempted to open it.

During his time in foster, he has mastered the following commands, Sit, Down, Hup = Jump up onto something, Over = Jump over something, Center walking between legs, Take it, Wait, High Five, Touch, Crate, and not jumping on people when they come over to the home. He is still working on the following commands Out, Here, Sit Pretty, Under = Go under object. The naughty habits the Keebler #NotABadElf needs to work on are counter-surfing, dismantling his toys, and vocally protesting his crate at bedtime.

Keebler is searching for his forever home that would be active with daily jogs and outdoor adventures. He is the type that needs some structure in his life and would thrive in an environment where someone would be willing to work with his habits and set him up for success. Not only physical stimulation but also mental stimulation such as searching for treats, obedience work, and finding hidden balls would help wear him down for the day. He is more than happy at the end of the day to just chill by chewing on a bone or sniffing around the house. If you are looking for an elf to add to your home look no further than Keebler!
