Kaya is the model Malinois, aka everything that the Belgians bred this dog to be. She is eager, capable, fearless, and bold. On top of all the good things, it just gets better as she has a great off switch in the house as well. Want to know more about this 47-pound furball? Keep reading!
If Kaya were a human, she would be a white water rafting guide or some other extreme sport daredevil like a heliskier. She would be a great cheerleader for the rest of the extreme sports team as she is chillin’ with a beer at the bottom of the mountain. This lady is cooperative and affectionate when it comes to personality with lots of eye contact involved with her handler. When it is time to chill out after physical/mental exercise or after a long day she enjoys being petted and snuggling up with her person. #GotToGetThatEnergyOut When Kaya has been around livestock such as chickens she has never shown any undue interest, but cats on the other hand might be a no-go due to her frenetic energy. Not that she would do anything to them but rather is on the “go” and maybe too much for them.
During car rides she just chills out and enjoys the ride. During her trip to the vet’s office, she was great, but it was only to get a weight check, so the jury is still out when it comes time to get a full physical. There have been loud noises, and she does not seem to be bothered by them at all as well. She loves to run and zoom around; her foster says that she flings her legs out when she comes running at you much like the Tasmanian Devil from Looney Toons. When it comes to training time she loves food, toys, and praise. #WhoDoesnt
During Kaya’s time in foster she has mastered the Sit command, everything else in a work in progress. There are some things that Kaya came into foster with that need to be worked on, she does not like dogs walking past her crate while she is crated. It makes her light off pretty well by digging at the door and barking. She has not been destructive while in foster care, but she does challenge fences and needs to work on her manners with other dogs since she can be slightly overbearing from time to time. Overall there is nothing that she has for a bad habit that cannot be corrected with time and proper continued training.
Kaya is looking for her forever home that will continue her training and help her become the most awesome lady dog there has ever been. Her new home must have has extensive high-drive breed experience or possibly a home where her new person is into dog sports. Since she is a “blank slate” the opportunities for Kaya’s future are limitless. If you think your home needs a Kaya, please apply!
