ABOUT KARLIE

Age: 7m
Gender: Female
Weight: 35 pounds
Energy level: Moderate
Overall Drive: Moderate
Location: Helena, MT

Curious, confident, and forward, Karlie is very biddable and wants to please. While young, she has been good about keeping her mouth to herself (a challenge for some young dogs!) and is busy but slowly learning to focus. She is very friendly, outgoing, and wants to engage with those around her.

At this point in her life, Karlie spends a lot of time learning and is currently working on how to interact appropriately both with humans and other dogs. She is not aggressive with other dogs and is good at ignoring them when asked to work around them. However, she is still learning how to greet some dogs properly. Karlie has tried to chase cats and small dogs but has quickly learned to leave them alone but a home free of cats or other small animals would be best. She rides well in the car, handles the veterinarian with ease, and has enough confidence to be unshaken by loud noises. Karlie is motivated by food, toys, and interaction with her handler. She responds well to firm correction and is beginning to self-regulate her behavior. Not socialized prior to rescue, she is still learning house manners but does very well in her crate during the day and overnight.

Karlie’s foster describes that she has a zest for life that’s contagious – and she wants to share that with those around her! She is enthusiastic about play, and her favorite thing is to hike in the woods and use her nose. An active home with strong daily structure would be ideal for this busy girl. Given how much she enjoys using her nose, she would be a great candidate for nose work or other tracking activities. She’s hoping she can sniff out the perfect family- is it you?!
