Jura’s number one adjective is confident.  This guy thinks life is amazing and doesn’t see why anything should get him down.  He is playful with people and other dogs, calm when out and about or on his place bed, and focused when doing obedience.  Agility really gets him going and he loves learning new things.

He is neutral to dogs when out and about, loves getting pets from people who offer them, and doesn’t beg for attention.  He will alert bark when people come through the gate if he’s in the yard but will refocus on his handler and the task at hand once he’s told the person is allowed to be there.  He has never interacted with young children directly but has seen them at parks and does fine. Jura has high prey drive so a home without cats or other small pets is required. Livestock piques his interest, but he can refocus quickly.

Jura is potty trained, crate trained, rides crated in the car, and is a perfect gentleman at the vet’s office and in the home. Loud noises will only cause a slight startle if they are close to him. Jura is not a sensitive dog, and his confidence is seen sometimes as cocky or determined. Firm, but fair corrections are needed, and he is conditioned to both a prong and e-collar for the rare times a stern verbal correction is not sufficient.

Jura has mastered many skills and is currently working on perfecting his focused heel. He is motivated with food and toys, so training is a breeze. He thrives with a lot of structure and clear boundaries so his new owner must be willing to provide that along with plenty of mental and physical stimulation, so he is set up for long term success.

He LOVES to fetch, but this boy will check his brain at the door if there’s a ball to chase so care must be taken so he doesn’t injure himself – like that one time he broke a toe going hog wild after his ball. He does best after a good warm up, fetching on a flat surface, using NO bouncy balls, and ensuring he remains focused on some obedience skills like “down/stay” while the ball is tossed before he is released to get it.

Jura is looking for an active person who can meet his mental and physical needs daily. While he is not shy and likes people, a home free from chaos would be ideal so he doesn’t get overstimulated. Jura would likely do well living with other dogs of similar size as long as his owner can manage his desire to be viewed as top dog and remind him that he isn’t actually the boss. He has never shown any hints of aggression, resource guarding, or reactivity. Agility is his jam, and he would likely do well in rally, fastcat, and obedience.

Adoption Donation: $500.00

Transport along Interstate 5 (Rowland Heights, CA to Edmonds, WA) is available but cost not included in adoption fee.

For all inquiries, please fill out our adoption application first, as the volunteer answering emails is probably not the coordinator for the specific foster home/dog.
