Overall Drive: Moderate

Location: Lake Elsinore, CA

This active pup is no couch potato! Jesse has energy for days and is happy to engage in almost any activity. Fetch? Sure! Hiking in the snow or playing in the lake? You bet! Playing with and retrieving a ball? YES PLEASE!! After he has had plenty of time to blow off his steam, he is happy to crawl on your lap for some snuggles. Jesse loves getting affection and doesn't hold back on returning affection. He loves his person and will happily go anywhere you go!

Jesse’s high energy and stamina paired with his high hunt and prey drive make him a natural for someone looking to do tracking, barn hunt, or another highly engaging sport. He will become restless if his physical and mental needs are not adequately met. Jesse is environmentally stable, fearless, confident, and eager to please. He will require a handler who is well-versed in working dogs who can provide appropriate boundaries and structure. He is extremely loyal, bonds quickly, and thrives on routine.

Jesse is potty trained, crate trained, rides nicely in the car crated, and is well mannered at the vet’s office. He has mastered his basic obedience and is working on more advanced skills. He can easily spring 6 feet in the air, so careful management to keep him contained is essential. Jesse is a chewer and will help himself to crate blankets or other items left within reach, including in the trash or on the counters. He is easily corrected and redirected to more appropriate items.

Jesse’s ideal home will be with a very active and skilled handler who is prepared to set him up for success by creating and enforcing boundaries. He is equally motivated by food, toys, or praise, so continued training will be rewarding for all involved. He could live with another neutral dog of similar size, but would also be fine as a sole partner. Due to his high energy and drive, he will not be placed in a home with cats, small animals, or children.
