ABOUT JERSEY

Age: 6 months

Gender: Female

Energy Level: Moderate

Overall Drive: Low

Location: Visalia, CA

Jersey is a sweetheart who loves nothing more than a good belly rub. She is the definition of a “Velcro” dog, and her favorite place to be is next to her person. If she were a human, Jersey would be an event planner: she is constantly in motion and loves to be the center of attention.

Jersey is bouncy, energetic, and loves to climb all over you and end up in your lap. She is curious about the world and tends to be very busy when awake but still finds time to sleep and recharge. Jersey has had no issues meeting new people who have visited her foster home. She is slow to warm up to other dogs, but with controlled introductions and time to acclimate she is part of the pack in no time. Jersey is curious about small animals and will give chase if they run, so she would do best in a home without cats. She is a bit under-socialized and can be fearful of new environments at first but gains confidence quickly with repetition. Jersey rides well in the car, is mostly curious towards loud noises, and has been learning and mastering house manners. She is working on basic obedience, does well with just verbal correction, and is fully crate trained. Jersey does have a tendency to chew and thus will need plenty of chew toys and supervision as she acclimates to her new home and continues to grow and mature.

Jersey’s ideal home would be an active one with plenty of opportunities for exercise and mental stimulation. She would love to share her space with an older, experienced dog who could enforce boundaries and help her become more confident. Due to her size and tendency to be a bit pushy, Jersey should share her home with older children only. Jersey is a quick study and loves to learn but tends to get overstimulated, so a quieter home would suit her best. Jersey can’t wait to see what the future holds as long as she is by her person’s side!
