Jens is a one-in-a-million mal: he will do whatever you ask him to do but will never demand anything from you! You want to go for a walk, hike, or a run? Jens is ready and willing to keep you company. You want to relax on the couch instead? He’ll bring the popcorn! If he is with his person, he is happy.

​

Extremely affectionate and gentle, Jens wants nothing more than to receive as many pets from as many people as possible. He is welcoming of strangers both in public and in his home, but due to his size might do best in a home without young children or elderly adults. His high prey drive makes him unsuitable to live with cats and other small pets. Jens rides well in the car, gets along well with other dogs, is house and crate trained, and has mastered most of his basic obedience commands. He has been known to bark at other dogs while on-leash (though not aggressively) and is working on limiting minor destructive behaviors when he is left alone.

Jens would be best suited for a low to moderately active home where he can be included in as many activities as possible. Though he likely doesn’t have the drive for any formal sports, his personality makes him a good candidate for emotional support work or a hospital visitation dog where he could receive as much affection as possible. This laid-back fellow is just looking for the comfiest couch to call home – could this oversized lapdog be your perfect partner?

West Coast adoptions only, HOWEVER, if application is strong we may consider placement in other Western US states.

Must have previous or current, purebred Belgian Malinois experience OR other high drive working breed experience. Have no children under the age of 12 years old OR have extensive experience with children and high drive dogs.

 

Our adoption process includes- completion of an application, followed by a telephone interview.

 

Adoption Donation: $500.00

Transport along Interstate 5 (Bakersfield, CA to Bellingham, WA) is available but cost not included in adoption fee.
