Sweet Jeff loves his people and is content laying by their feet to be their devoted shadow. Jeff will relax with all four legs straight up in the air. He makes his foster laugh because he loves to act like everything is HIS idea and his personality is overall is "Proud as a Peacock".

He has shown the ability to get along with female dogs, he hasn't been around a lot of male dogs but would likely be fine with a slow and proper introduction. He doesn't chase the fosters cats or chickens, and will respond to "leave it" if he gets a little too curious, he'll even call off squirrels.

Jeff doesn’t jump up on visitors but looks to be sure they are welcome. Once assured he loves them as well. He has done exceptional with the fosters grandkids from ages 16 to 7. These children are accustomed to German Shepherds and know how/what to do, so that helps.

Jeff has mastered 'sit' 'wait' 'recall' 'leave it' 'down'. He is still working on his crate/kennel anxiety. He lives for praise from his person. Jeff can get upset if he's not with his person, so will need a strong crate or kennel to secure him. He loves to load up and go for rides in the car but should not be left unattended without being in a crate. Jeff has done well on walks in the park with small, gentle reminders of proper behavior. At the vet he impressed the entire staff with how relaxed and chill he was. Laid spread out on floor. Loud noises don't bother him. He can be trusted not to counter surf but as soon as food drops on the ground the 5 second rule is in play!

West Coast adoptions only, HOWEVER, if application is strong we may consider placement in other Western US states.

Must have previous or current, purebred German Shepherd experience OR other high drive working breed experience. Have no children under the age of 12 years old OR have extensive experience with children and high drive dogs.

Our adoption process includes- completion of an application, followed by a telephone interview. If that goes well, we will arrange for a home visit.

Adoption Donation: $400.00

Transport along Interstate 5 (Bakersfield, CA to Bellingham, WA) is available but cost not included in adoption fee.

For all inquiries, please fill out our adoption application first, as the volunteer answering emails is probably not the coordinator for the specific foster home/dog.
