Indo is a lover of his people! He is wary of strangers and is slow to trust, but once you are in his circle, he is the sweetest dog you’ll ever meet. He loves to lay around the house and nap – and would do it all day if his handler allowed it. If he were a human, he’d be a teenager – he’d love nothing more than to lay around, watch TV, and eat all day!
Indo is a complex dog who has many layers. He will need someone who will be patient as he continues to come out of his shell, and someone who is prepared to deal with the struggles that come along with that type of work. He wears a muzzle comfortably and gets excited when it’s time to go our for walks. Indo functions very much on his own terms – he wants the attention of his handler when he wants it, and he’ll decide when he’s had enough and needs more space. He does well on walks, even just on a flat collar with a short leash. Indo does not care to interact with other people though will coexist around them fine as long as they are willing to give him space. He rides well in the car and doesn’t react to loud noises. Indo is fully house-trained and does amazing in his kennel. He responds well to firm, verbal correction. He has mastered basic obedience and is working on more advanced skills such as recall with distractions.
Indo’s ideal home would be as an only dog with a single, female handler. He will need a very low-key, calm environment to truly thrive, and will need an experienced handler who is willing to be patient with him as he continues to learn to adapt to the world around him. Indo is a dog that would be best suited for a predictable environment with lots of structure as he has trouble adjusting to change. He loves long walks and jogs with his person and is always up for a lazy day around the house. If you are up for the challenge of supporting Indo as he continues to learn to trust this new life, he will offer his best self to you – give him the chance to fully succeed!
