Hops is an energetic, silly, and happy Malinois who is a natural athlete. He will keep you laughing when he plays with his favorite stuffed toys and will look deep into your eyes when he lays on his back to ask for belly rubs. If he were a human, he would be a racecar driver: he loves to go, go, go and is determined and courageous. After the race, however, he loves to bask in the glow of victory with some snuggling.
Hops is instinctively protective and is very curious. He alternates between moments of deep focus and a desire to explore. Hops takes his time warming up to new people and has been known to be reactive to strangers who approach him on walks. When allowed proper introduction to other dogs, Hops will slowly engage in play with other dogs and could do well with another dog as a playmate. Given his high prey drive, Hops requires a forever home without cats, other small animals, or children. He has done well at the veterinarian’s office and doesn’t react to loud noises. Since he is young, Hops is working on reducing typical puppy behavior such as mouthiness and jumping. Hops does best when given plenty of opportunity to exercise both his body and mind, which reduces the incidence of destructive behaviors in the home. He is working on mastering basic obedience and is fully crate trained.
Hops would do best in a calm and peaceful home. He will require an experienced handler who can provide structure and plenty of opportunity for both mental and physical exercise. He has lots of energy and an engaging personality that is ready to experience all that life has to offer! Hops would enjoy any activity where he could be outdoors. Since he is also a quick learner, he’d be a great candidate for agility or any activity that includes jumping (he truly lives up to his name!). Ready for a young dog with plenty of potential? Hops is your perfect partner!
