Harvey is a lover! Though he may seem serious when he first meets you, deep down he is a goofball who just wants to give hugs and be near his person. Harvey is up for anything and will make you feel safe just by being by your side. If he were a human, Harvey would do lots of odd jobs just to keep busy: plastic recycling collector, pot collector at a nursery, and a couch tester for La-Z-Boy!
Harvey is flexible and ready for whatever adventure might lie ahead. He can be reactive if other people or dogs rush into his space without time for proper introductions, but generally does fine when his boundaries are respected. Harvey’s moderate prey drive and fixation on cats suggest he would do best in a home without small animals (especially cats). He rides well in the car (though will want to sit in your lap – a crate or barrier might be needed), thrives in chaos (comfortable around loud noises, livestock, traffic), and is motivated by affection from his person. Harvey is confident and not deterred by barriers, so he will need continued supervision to deter his tendency to investigate things that are not meant for him. He has mastered basic obedience and is focusing on learning to wait, respecting boundaries, and limiting resource guarding/possessiveness with items he believes are his. Harvey has made great strides in his foster home and is continuing to learn and grow each day.
Harvey’s number one priority for his new home is a person who will give him as much love and attention as he is willing to offer. He is laid back and relaxed and would love a home where he had the opportunity to be a hiking, walking, or running partner. Harvey would do best with someone who can spend long periods of time with him and would make a great work-from-home coworker. He does seem to like to use his nose and may do well in tracking or scent work. Harvey is ready to keep growing, all he needs is the perfect garden to blossom in!
