ABOUT GINNY
Age: 18 months
Weight: 56lbs
Energy level: Moderate
Overall drive: Moderate
Location: Sultan, WA
Ginny is a bit of a goofy clown but is also very loving and aims to please. She loves to be near her people and loves playing with other dogs. She is an eager student and would be thrilled to train in anything with her human. Initially a bit leery of new environments and people, she warms up with slow intros and plenty of treats to win her over. Garbage trucks, however, forget it! She will do anything she can to stay as far away from them as possible. She will seek comfort and guidance from her person when she is unsure.
Ginny loves all dogs that will love her back and lives to play and romp with dogs of similar size or larger. Due to her prey drive, a home without cats or small animals under 40 pounds is required. In situations where she is unsure, such as a bustling city, she may try to retreat if uncomfortable as she can be overwhelmed and sensitive to constant noise. However, she exhibits no barking or forward behavior. With her foster she has visited many dog shows and competitive dog sport events where she was perfectly fine. She has also heard gun shots in the distance and been fine and is not too startled with household noises.
Ginny is potty trained, rides in a crate in the car, well-mannered although a bit uncomfortable at the vets’ office, and working on becoming proficient in her skills. She is motivated most by food, praise, then toys. Stern verbal correction, paired with an e collar as needed works well. Ginny does have some separation anxiety and needs continued work on her crate manners to ensure she keeps adding to the skills she already has in the crate. A solid crate like an Impact will be required as she has broken out of other types.
Ginny would love nothing more than a quiet country home without small critters and a doggy playmate. Someone who is around more often than not, and who is a strong handler that won’t take shenanigans as she has pushed weaker handlers and won. With firm boundaries and structure she is a joy to be around. Her ability to act like a bucking bronco hopping and twisting in circles, her high prey drive, and desire to please, makes her a great candidate for Disc, barn hunt, Rally, or nosework. If you’re looking for a dog to love you to the moon and back, Ginny is your girl!
