Gimlet is a wildly goofy young Malinois with an affinity for affection and a loving personality that will win almost anyone over! If he were a human, he’d be a party planner – always willing to do whatever he can to make sure everyone is having a good time. He’ll keep you laughing at all points during the day, and his sweet demeanor make him a dream to be around.
Gimlet is a very observant dog and always has his head on a swivel when outside of the home. He is a little wary of strangers and requires slow introductions that allow him time to get to know the person before they interact with him. Gimlet does best with female dogs and non-dominant males and needs close observation to ensure play with other dogs doesn’t escalate. He rides well in the car, does well with loud noises, and is fully crate trained. Not much correction is required with Gimlet, he responds to voice commands and light corrections on a prong collar only when necessary. He has nearly mastered basic obedience and is working on more advanced commands in his foster home. Gimlet will need to be muzzled at the veterinarian’s office and may require sedation for more advanced exams, however we expect this to improve as he is continuously socialized in his forever home.
Gimlet will thrive in a house with someone that has Malinois experience and is willing to enforce boundaries and routine as he continues to mature. He wants nothing more than to be a part of his handler’s life, and so will do best in a home where he can be included in most, if not all, activities. Gimlet is still young but may find certain sports enjoyable as his drive continues to build. Overall, this boy just wants someone who sees life the same way he does: a party just waiting to be enjoyed!
